Can a nurse practitioner or CNM fit a pessary without a supervising physician?
In many states, yes — pessary fitting sits within recognized advanced-practice scope, particularly in states with full practice authority for APRNs. In other states, a collaborative practice agreement or physician oversight is required. Confirm with your state Board of Nursing.
Do you support telehealth-only NP practices?
Yes. Peer-reviewed evidence (TOPSY RCT 2024; Springer 2024 RCT) supports patient self-managed pessary care with clinician oversight. We recommend at least one in-person or hybrid visit for the initial fitting where possible.
Does an FQHC or community health center need special credentialing to buy from SciMed?
