Silicone ring pessary from the 3-size fitting pack

How the 3-Size Pessary Fitting Pack Works: A Home Size-Trial Walkthrough

The 3-Size Pessary Fitting Pack lets you try ring pessary sizes at home instead of guessing. You get three sizes in a row, each sealed in its own sterile pouch. You open only the one you want to try, and if you send back the other two unopened pouches within 30 days, we refund $80.00. This guide walks you through every step, from choosing your sizes to sending the extras back.

Please read this alongside your doctor's or nurse's advice. If you have never used a pessary before, it is always best to have a clinician check your fit, even if you use the pack at home.

Who the fitting pack is for

The pack is made for women who are not completely sure of their size. That includes:

  • Women who are between two or three sizes
  • Women being re-fitted after weight change, pelvic floor therapy or surgery
  • Women working with a clinician by video (telemedicine fittings)
  • First-time pessary users who have not had a clinical fitting

If your doctor already gave you an exact size, you do not need this pack. A single ring pessary in that size is simpler.

Step 1: Choose your type

The fitting pack comes in two types:

  • With Support has a thin membrane across the ring for extra bladder support. It is often chosen when there is a dropped bladder or leaking with coughs and sneezes.
  • Without Support is an open ring, often used for prolapse alone.

Your clinician can tell you which type suits you. If you are unsure, ask before ordering. Our Ring Pessary With Support guide and Ring Pessary Without Support guide explain the difference in more detail.

Step 2: Choose your size combination

Each pack holds three sizes in a row. These are the combinations you can pick from:

Combination Who it usually suits
1 + 2 + 3 Smaller than average
2 + 3 + 4 Smaller than average
3 + 4 + 5 The most common choice (about 70% of US patients)
4 + 5 + 6 Larger than average
5 + 6 + 7 Larger than average

If a clinician has told you a likely size, pick the combination that puts that size in the middle. For example, if they think you are a size 4, choose 3 + 4 + 5. That way you have one size smaller and one size larger to fall back on.

Step 3: When your pack arrives, look before you open

Your pack arrives with three individually sterilized pouches. Each one is marked with its size, lot number and expiry date.

Here is the most important rule: do not open all three. The pouches let you see and feel the size of each ring without breaking the seal. Hold them side by side and compare.

Why this matters: once a pouch is opened, even for a moment, that pessary cannot be returned. This is for infection-control reasons. Only sealed, never-opened pouches qualify for the refund.

Step 4: Open one size, usually the middle one

Open only the size you think is most likely to fit. For most women, that is the middle size in the pack.

Wash your hands and follow the insertion steps your clinician showed you, along with the instructions that come with the device. If you would like a refresher, our article How to Insert, Remove & Clean a Vaginal Pessary at Home walks through it in simple steps.

Step 5: Wear it for a few days

Wear the pessary for 3–7 days while you go about your normal day: walking, sitting, bending, using the bathroom. One quick try is not enough to know how it fits.

Signs of a good fit

  • It stays in place
  • You do not feel discomfort
  • You can pass urine normally

Signs it may not be the right size

  • It slips down or comes out (it may be too small)
  • You feel pressure, soreness or pain (it may be too large)
  • You have trouble passing urine or having a bowel movement

If you have pain, bleeding, trouble passing urine or anything that worries you, remove the pessary if you have been shown how, and call your doctor or nurse. Do not keep trying sizes if something feels wrong.

Step 6: Try the next size if needed

If the middle size does not feel right, open the next size up or down. Choose the one that matches what you noticed: slipping usually points to a larger size, and pressure usually points to a smaller one. Your clinician can help you decide.

Keep whichever size fits best.

Step 7: Return the unopened pouches

Once you have found your size, send back any pouches that are still sealed. Here is how the refund works:

  • Return the two unopened, sealed pouches within 30 days of delivery.
  • Use tracked shipping. Return shipping is paid by the buyer.
  • We refund $80.00 to your original payment method within 3–5 business days of receiving them.

Email sales@scimedstore.com before you send your return and we will give you the return details.

Please note: if you opened two sizes, only the one remaining sealed pouch can come back, so the full $80.00 refund will not apply. Opening just one pouch at a time keeps your options open.

Prefer to keep all three?

That is fine too. Some women keep the extras as spares or for future replacement. Just skip the return and no refund is processed.

A quick checklist

  • Pick your type (with or without support)
  • Pick a size combination with your likely size in the middle
  • Compare sizes through the sealed pouches
  • Open one size and wear it for 3–7 days
  • Open the next size only if needed
  • Return sealed pouches within 30 days
  • Write down the size that fits for future orders

Frequently asked questions

How does the $80 refund work?

Send back the two unopened, sealed pouches within 30 days of delivery. We refund $80.00 to your original payment method within 3–5 business days of receiving them. Return shipping is paid by the buyer.

What counts as "sealed" for the refund?

Sealed means that individual sterile pouch has never been opened. If a pessary was taken out of its pouch, even briefly, it cannot be returned for infection-control reasons.

Can I keep all three pessaries?

Yes. If you would rather keep all three as spares, simply do not return anything. No refund is processed in that case.

How long should I wear a size before deciding?

Wear it for 3–7 days during normal activity. A good fit stays in place, feels comfortable and lets you pass urine normally. Call your clinician if anything feels wrong.

Is the fitting pack HSA/FSA eligible?

Yes. Ring pessaries are covered under HCPCS code A4562, so you can pay with your HSA or FSA card.
