Do the pins damage the wood?
Yes — 10mm pin penetration leaves 2 small holes (~1mm each). For visible/finished surfaces, sample in hidden areas (backs, ends, bottoms). For raw lumber, holes don't matter. For non-invasive testing, look at electromagnetic (EM) moisture meters ($800-$1,500).
Can I measure moisture in drywall or concrete?
Not designed for those — wood-specific species calibration. For drywall + concrete + masonry moisture, use dedicated construction moisture meters (different measurement principles).
What's the accuracy across the range?
±0.5% typical from 6-40% moisture (normal wood range). At extreme ends (0-5% very dry or 40-99% saturated), accuracy degrades to ±1-2%. For most practical applications (kiln-dried lumber 6-12%, green lumber 20-40%), 0.5% accuracy is sufficient.
