Distance Measuring Wheel — 10,000 m Range, 5-Digit Counter, Pistol Grip + Spray Paint Marker, Surveying / Field
Couldn't load pickup availability
Rolling distance measuring wheel for surveying, land measurement, construction layout, and event planning — with an integrated pistol-grip trigger that sprays paint at any point-marking distance. 10,000 m (10 km) total range on a 5-digit mechanical counter (999.99 m before rollover, then 5-digit meter accumulator). Bidirectional measurement — pushes forward AND backward for corrections. One-piece handle for one-hand operation. $299 direct — versus $175-$450 for Rolatape / Keson / Trumeter branded surveying wheels with equivalent range + marking features.
What makes the integrated paint marker unique
Standard surveying wheels only measure distance — you note the reading, walk back with a spray can, mark the spot manually. This wheel has a pistol-grip trigger integrated into the handle: as you push and hit a target distance, squeeze the trigger and spray paint marks the exact ground position underneath the wheel. Zero measurement error from walk-back re-positioning. Essential for stakeout, cable/utility marking, event booth spacing, athletic track layout, and any distance-to-mark workflow.
Applications
- Land surveying + property boundaries — perimeter walks, parcel measurement, easement layout
- Construction site layout — building corner stakeout, utility trench marking, driveway + walkway sizing
- Utility + cable marking — buried cable/pipe path marking (with the integrated paint marker)
- Road + pavement — striping layout, curb-to-curb width verification, sidewalk length
- Landscaping + fencing — hedge, fence, sprinkler zone layout
- Event planning — trade show booth spacing, wedding + reception seating layout, tent + stage placement
- Athletic + sports — track marking, field goal + baseline layout, distance calibration for training
- Forestry + wildlife — trail length, timber cruising baseline, wildlife plot measurement
- Emergency services — accident scene reconstruction (distance between vehicles + skid marks + reference points)
- Real estate — quick property frontage + depth verification for MLS listings

FAQ
Accuracy compared to tape or laser?
Wheels: ±0.5% typical (5m error per 1km) — surveying-grade for layout. Better on flat hard surfaces, worse on grass/gravel/slopes. Tape measures: ±0.1% (best precision but slow, needs 2 people for >30m). Laser distance meters: ±0.03% (highest precision, but line-of-sight only, indoor or clear outdoor). For long-distance layout on the ground with real-time paint marking, wheel is the right tool.
Paint refills — proprietary or standard?
Uses standard upside-down inverted marking spray cans (widely available at Home Depot / Lowe's / hardware stores). Any brand fits the handle holder. Rust-Oleum, Krylon, Aervoe all compatible.
How does bidirectional work?
Counter mechanism is coupled to wheel rotation direction. Push forward = counter increments. Reverse direction = counter decrements. If you overshoot a target distance, roll back a bit and the counter subtracts, then push forward again to hit the exact target.
Rugged for daily construction use?
Yes — mechanical counter (no LCD / battery to fail), sealed wheel bearings, one-piece steel handle. Standard care: wipe clean after use, store dry, replace tire when tread wears smooth (affects distance calibration).
