How dangerous is it?
Voltage is high (100-400 kV) but current is very LOW (microamps) — the classic "high voltage, low current" scenario. Standard electrostatic-generator safety: don't touch operating dome directly, discharge before touching for maintenance, no pacemaker/implant patients near active generator, ground the discharge sphere before touching. Why doesn't it work in humid conditions?
