Why Extend from 200mm to 300mm?
Standard slit lamp objectives use 200mm focal length, optimized for anterior segment biomicroscopy where microscope and operator can sit close to the patient. But some workflows need extra clearance:
- Office laryngoscopy: long rigid laryngoscope needs clearance in front of microscope
- Deep-field ENT examination: nasal cavity and posterior pharynx examination
- Rhinology and turbinate reduction: endoscopic instrument clearance
- Veterinary large-animal ophthalmology: horse and cattle eye exam where operator can't get close
- Surgical instrument working room: cataract surgery and minor surgical procedures
- Pediatric ophthalmology: child patient and parent-hold configuration
Best For
- ENT practices adding rhinology and laryngology to slit lamp workflow
- Veterinary ophthalmology (large and small animal)
- Multi-specialty eye clinics and ENT clinics
- Academic teaching programs (student practice with instruments)
- Small surgical practices doing minor operating room work at slit lamp
- International multi-specialty clinics via DDP

FAQ
Does this fit other slit lamps besides SciMed?
Standard slit lamp objective thread. Should fit most 3-Step and 2-Step Haag-Streit-type slit lamps (Reichert Xcel, generic Chinese slit lamps, SciMed 3-Step). Not compatible with Zeiss SL 130 or Topcon SL-D701 (proprietary Zeiss/Topcon threads). Email us your slit lamp model to confirm before ordering.
Do I need to recalibrate after swap?
No, objectives are optically independent of the slit lamp body. Direct swap in 30 seconds. Magnification scale on the changer wheel remains accurate (magnification is objective-lens-independent for slit lamps).
What magnification with 300mm objective?
Same magnification (5x/10x/20x with 15x eyepieces = 15x/30x/60x total) as the standard 200mm objective. Only working distance changes, from 200mm to 300mm. Field of view slightly larger at each mag step.
